Potsdam---Arthur Donnelly, 88, of New York City, native of Potsdam, died from pneumonia on January 14 at Cortlandt Nursing Care Center, Cortlandt.
Mr. Donnelly was raised in the Potsdam area before moving to New York City in 1929. He was a plant foreman for the Dairymen's League, a New York City dairy cooperative. He retired in 1974 after 42 years of service.
Mr. Donnelly was a charter member of the George W. Hudson Council of the Knights of Columbus in Queens.
Born March 16, 1909, at Potsdam, a son of James and Catherine Tiernan Donnelly, he graduated from Potsdam High School in 1927 and attended Clarkson University. He married Jessica E. Regan on March 16, 1932 at Potsdam. She died July 23, 1977.
Surviving are two sons, James, Vienna, Va., and John, Carmel; a daughter, Catherine Elston, Sunnyside, Long Island; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Edward and Emmitt, died before him, as did six sisters, Bernice Dullea, Mary McLaughlin, Cecilia, Ann, Nona and Lena, and two grandsons.
A funeral Mass was held at Queen of Angels Church, Sunnyside, on Saturday. There will be a graveside service May 22 in St. Mary's Cemetery, Potsdam.
