Mrs. Della Long Rites Conducted

 

(August 21, 1891-January 17, 1966)

 

Norwood - Funeral services will be held this morning Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Buck funeral home for Mrs. Della P. Long, 74, with the Rev. Frank Smith, pastor of First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery in the spring.

 

Mrs. Long, a retired telephone operator, died Monday, Jan. 17 in Crouse Irving hospital, Syracuse, where she had been a patient only a few hours. She had been living with her daughter, Miss Gwendolyn Long, Fayetteville, since Thanksgiving.

 

Mrs. Long was born in Norwood Aug. 21, 1891, a daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Simonds Plumley. She was married to William H. Long, a New York Central railroad conductor, Aug. 23, 1911 in Norwood. The couple always lived in Norwood; and Mrs. Long was a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Company until the Norwood office was consolidated with the one in Potsdam. Mr. Long died in September 1962.

 

Surviving Mrs. Long are her daughter in Fayetteville; and two grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. William (Helen) Pike died a few years ago.

 

Mrs. Long was a member of the WSCS.
