Norwood--Jay Alexander Chamberlain, 69, died at 1:45 Monday morning, Aug. 1, 1960, in Potsdam Hospital where he had been a patient three weeks.
The body is at the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, where friends may call this afternoon and evening. Masonic services will be conducted there at 8 tonight.
Last rites will be at 10 Wednesday morning in the Norwood Congregational Church with the Rev. T. Howard Akland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Edna) Oshier, Black River; two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Chamberlain was born June 9, 1891 in Madrid, the son of Fred and Sarah Baxter Chamberlain. He attended Madrid schools and Albany Business College.
For the past 40 years he had been auditor for the Norwood and St. Lawrence Railroad.
He and Miss Jennie Buell were married June 21, 1918. She died four years ago. Most of his life was spent in Waddington and a few years in Norfolk. He moved to Norwood a year ago, living on Baldwin Ave.
Mr. Chamberlain was a veteran of World War I, a member of Champion-Hobkirk Post 420, American Legion, of Waddington, former member of the Waddington Fire Department, former member of the Waddington Board of Education. For several years he was village clerk in Waddington. He was a member of What Cheer Lodge 689, F. and A.M., Norwood.
