Clayton C. Bush

Clayton C. Bush, 84, of 29 Spring St., Norwood, died Dec. 8, 1971 at the Potsdam Hospital where he had been a patient three weeks.

Funeral services were held Friday morning from the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, with Rev. Harry Taylor, pastor of the Norwood United Church of Christ, and Rev. David Plank, Rector of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood, in the spring. Honorary bearers were E. E. Wright, Don Stevenson, Charles McKenty, William Curtis, Reuben Yale, Arch C. Royce, Hubert McLaughlin and Eugene Lewis.

Mr. Bush is survived by his widow, Mrs. Blanche G. Bush; three daughters, Mrs. Mark (Elizabeth) Jenner, Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret) Colbert, both of Norwood, and Miss Helen Bush, at home; five grandchildren, Mrs. William (Carolyn) Swafford, Brunswick, Me.; Mrs. Lloyd (Carol) Stanford, Norwood; Philip C. Jenner, Norfolk; Mrs. Kenneth (Meg) Blair, Louisville, and Miss Debbie Colbert, Norwood; and three great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Anne and Neil Swafford of Brunswick, Me., and Philip G. Jenner, Norfolk.

Mr. Bush was born at Louisville Jan. (?), 1887 a son of Nathaniel and Sarah McLeod Bush. He married Blanche Gebo of Norwood on Nov. 14, 1911 and the couple had spent their entire married life in this village. He was manager of the local A & P store for 37 years, retiring in 1955.

He was a charter member and past president of the Norwood Kiwanis Club, a member of the Men’s Fellowship of the United Church of Christ, and of church boards, a past president of the Riverside Cemetery Association and was a member of What Cheer Lodge, F & AM.

A Masonic service was conducted at the Funeral Home Thursday evening.
