William E. Bowhall

 

 

(April 22, 1879-April 12, 1967)

 

William Elmore Bowhall, 87, died at his home, 1 Morgan Street, Norwood at 10:30 Monday night, Apr. 12, 1967. While in failing health for several years Mr. Bowhall had been about as usual.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Lytle Bowhall, several nieces and nephews including Roscoe Bowhall, Clark Bowhall, Mrs. Beverly Grady and Miss Bessie Bowhall all of Norwood.

Mr. Bowhall was born in Louisville April 22, 1879, a son of Elmore and Emma Washburn Bowhall. He moved to Norwood while a child and attended Norwood schools. He had lived in Norwood for over 80 years.

He was married to Carrie Lytle Aug. 21, 1901 with Rev. S. S. Cobb, pastor of the Norwood Methodist Church, performing the ceremony at the home of the bride’s mother. The couple has lived at their present address most of their married life. Mr. Bowhall was employed as a baggage master by the New York Central for more than 44 years before retiring in 1944.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Norwood, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and has been affiliated with What Cheer Lodge, F & A M more than 58 years.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, with Rev. Frank I. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.
