William Bartlett

WM. BARTLETT, 66, FORMER RESIDENT OF NORWOOD, DIES

 

Norwood, May 31 - William Bartlett, aged 66 years, former resident of this village, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred S. Chase of Syracuse, following an illness of two weeks.

 

Mr. Bartlett was born in Fort Covington, April 11, 1864, son of Luther Bartlett and Jane White Bartlett. When a child he came to Norwood with his parents and resided here until three years ago when he went to Syracuse to make his home with his daughter. In March 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Frank of Norwood, who survives. While in Norwood Mr. Bartlett conducted a grocery store and meat business, later acting as salesman for the Kingan Provision company of Syracuse. He was in their employ for 14 years until his retirement seven years ago because of failing health.

 

He was a member of What Cheer Lodge, No. 689, F.&A.M. of Norwood.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Bartlett of Syracuse; one daughter, Mrs. F.S. Chase, of Syracuse; one brother, Mendell Bartlett of Norwood; and one sister, Mrs. Ada Whiting of Miami, Fla.

 

Prayer was held by Rev. Cole of St. Paul's Episcopal church at the Hart Funeral Home at Syracuse on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The body was brought to Norwood on Wednesday evening. Funeral services were held from St. Phillip's Episcopal church on Thursday at 2 p.m. Father Percy Deacon, pastor, officiated. Pall bearers were C. Fred Worthing, William Gage, Leon McCargar and William Bowman.

 

Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.

Former Local business Man and Traveling Salesman Died In Syracuse

 

The body of William Bartlett, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred S. Chase, in Syracuse Tuesday night, May 27 was brought to the home of Mrs. George O'Leary, a former neighbor, Wednesday.

 

Prayer was held by Rev. Cole of St. Paul's Episcopal church at the Hart Funeral Home at Syracuse on Wednesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Percy R. Deacon, pastor, officiated. Pall bearers were C. Fred Worthing, William Gage, Leon McCargar and William Bowman. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
