Charles William Bartlett

1898-1971

(February 5, 1898-October 25, 1971)

Charles William Bartlett, 73, lifelong resident of Norwood, died shortly after 9 p.m. Oct. 25, 1971 at the Potsdam Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He had been in poor health.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning from the Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, with Rev. Harry Taylor, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Norwood, officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Bearers were Cleveland Cameron, Mendell Bartlett, John Sutter, Robert Haggett, James Cotey and Robert MacArthur.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret R. Bartlett, two sons, Vernon L. and John F. both of Norwood, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, Luther R., Norwood and two sisters, Mrs. William (Bernice) Borrman, Calif., and Miss Doris Bartlett, Oneida. A son, Charles R. died in 1970.

Mr. Bartlett was born in Norwood Feb. 5, 1898 a son of Mendell and Ann Russell Bartlett. He attended Norwood High School and completed agricultural courses at Cornell University, Ithaca. In 1925 he married Margaret Robertson of Florida City, Fla. And the couple resided in Norwood their entire married life. Mr. Bartlett was employed at the Barrett Division of Allied Chemical Corp. for 32 years, the last 10 years as stone production manager. Following his retirement in 1963 he and Mrs. Bartlett spent the winters at Key Largo, Fla.

He was a member of the Clear Pond Club and the St. Regis Hunting Club.
