Norwood Resident Since 1890, Succumbs at the Home of Her Daughter


Norwood, April 11 - Mrs. Annie M. Russell Bartlett, 90, widow of Mendell T. Bartlett and a resident of the Norwood area since 1890, died Sunday morning at 11:45 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William F. Borrman, with whom she lived.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at the home of Mrs. Borrman, with Rev. Gayle Wetzel, pastor of the Norwood First Congregational church officiating, assisted by Rev. Leonard Russell of Fort Edward. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery, Norwood.


Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William F. (Bernice) Borrman, Norwood; Miss Carrie Bartlett, a nurse in Phoenix, Ariz., and Miss Doris Bartlett, a bacteriologist at Oneida; two sons, Luther R. Bartlett and Charles W. Bartlett, both of Norwood a brother Clark L. Russell, Potsdam; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.


Mrs. Bartlett was born at Colton, June 8, 1864, daughter of Luke and Cynthia Bartlett Russell. She was the oldest of eleven children.


She spent her early life at Hewittville, where she moved as a young girl with her parents.


On April 9, 1890, she was married to Mendell T. Bartlett of Norwood, with Rev. Mr. Johnson officiating. The couple resided on a fruit and dairy farm on the river road just outside this village.


Mr. Bartlett died Nov. 10, 1930. Since her marriage, Mrs. Bartlett has always made her home in this vicinity.


Mrs. Bartlett was once active in the First Congregational church. She was honored by members of her family last June 8 on her 90th birthday.
