William J. Quinn

Norwood, Feb. 22 - William J. Quinn, 74, died at the home of his sister-in-law Mrs. Margaret Quinn, on Prospect street, Monday night at 7:45. He had been in poor health the past year. His death was cause by infirmities of old age. He had resided in this vicinity since early childhood.


He was born in Norfolk, Nov. 3, 1863, the son of Cornelius and Mary Smith Quinn. He was the oldest of seven children. All had died before him. When still a child he moved with his family to this village. For the past 60 years, Mr. Quinn had operated a farm on the River road to Potsdam. He retired in 1936.


Since his retirement Mr. Quinn had lived in the village with his sister-in-law. He spent a month in Miami, Fla., last year.


Mr. Quinn was a member of the St. Andrews Roman Catholic church here.


Surviving Mr. Quinn is a niece, Mrs. Leo Devine, of Massena, formerly of Watertown.


Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 a.m. from St. Andrew's church, Rev. James E. Joy, pastor of the church, will officiate. The body will be placed in the vault in Calvary cemetery here. In the spring burial will be made in the family plot in Norfolk.
