Josiah B. Kimpton, 85, of 7877 S. Pennystreet Rd., died this morning in Rome Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 5, 1877, in Ft. Jackson, he was the son of Me. and Mrs. Lucius Kimpton. He was educated in Ft. Jackson schools.
On March 2, 1896, in Norwood he married Kathrine M. Hall, the Rev. H. Tyler, officiating. Mrs. Kimpton died January, 1941.
Mr. Kimpton who lived in Norwood prior to his retirement from farming in 1936, had been living in Rome the past 26 years. When he came here he made his home with a son, Howard H. Kimpton, who died Jan 15, 1955. Since then he made his home with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Kimpton, 7877 Pennystreet Rd. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Wright Settlement Grange.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Howard E. Kimpton, Westernville, and Mrs. Allen M. (Kathrine) Colbert, Massena.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 9 at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul A. Boriak, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will take place in Scotch Ridge Cemetery, Norwood.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
