NORWOOD--Rodney L. Gladle Jr., 25, Laconia, N.H., formerly of Norwood, died Saturday in a head-on collision on Route 3 in the town of Belmont, N.H., then he allegedly sped up in response to a police patrol car putting its lights on to pull him over, according to a report in the New Hampshire Union Leader. The paper reported that police abandoned the chase when he sped off and that his auto hit a vehicle driven by David Gonyer, 28, Laconia, who also died.

Born Oct. 22, 1980, in Potsdam, son of Rodney L. Gladle Sr. and Christine Goodrich, he was a machinist at Smiths Tubular Co., Laconia.

Surviving besides his parents, of Laconia, are his maternal grandmother, Alice Goodrich, Norwood; paternal grandfather, John Thomas, Potsdam; two sons, Juston O’Connor Gladle and Dylon O’Connor Gladle, both of Laconia; a daughter, Hailee O’Connor Gladle, Laconia; a sister, Leanne Gladle, Laconia, and aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Buck Funeral Home, Norwood, with the Rev. Craig Hacker officiating.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
