Mrs. Mary J. Congdon

 

(August 27, 1874-December 12, 1965)

 

Raymondville--Mrs. Mary J. Congdon, 91, mother of Mrs. Howard Hall, died Sunday evening, Dec. 12, 1965, at the Massena Memorial Hospital where she had been admitted Saturday evening. She had been in failing health several months.

Mrs. Congdon was born in Wales, Ont., Aug. 27, 1874, a daughter of Gilbert and Rebecca Stephenson Morgan. On Apr. 21, 1895, she married Albert Moss, Dickinson’s Landing, Ont., and he died in 1915. They had one daughter, Enid Moss Hall.

After Mr. Moss’ death, she and her daughter came to Norfolk and they have lived in this area for approximately 50 years. She and Frank Congdon, Norfolk, were married Nov. 25, 1919, in Trinity Episcopal Church, Potsdam. Since his death in 1926, Mrs. Congdon has made her home with her daughter.

She was a communicant of St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Norwood.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Buck Funeral Home to St. Phillip’s Church with the Rev. John Higgins officiating.

Surviving Mrs. Congdon are her daughter; two step-sons, Harry S. Moss, Dallas Tex., and Herbert Moss, Ingleside, Ont.; one sister, Mrs. Douglass Armstrong, Collingswood, N.J.; four grandchildren, Harry Hall and John Hall, Massena, Mary Jean and Carolyn Hall, Raymondville; several great-grandchildren.
