Dorothy Carter

(November 21, 1924-April 23, 1972)


Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Carter, wife of Ray Carter, Phoenix, and daughter of Luther R. Bartlett, Norwood and the late Isabel P. Bartlett, Norwood, were held recently in the Congregational Church in Phoenix.


Mrs. Carter died Sunday in Roswell Park Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, where she had been hospitalized with leukemia.


Besides her husband and father, she is survived by five children, Russell, 19, Cynthia, 17, Priscilla, 13, Valerie, 12, Helen, 7; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Gertrude) Rider, Apalachin; and a brother, Mendell P. Bartlett, Madrid.


She was graduated from Norwood High School in 1943, Canton ATC in 1945, and Brockport State in 1949. Her career brought her back to Canton ATC where she taught tailoring and clothing. She was married to Ray Carter at Norwood in August 1951.


In Phoenix, she was a substitute teacher and worked with Campfire Girl groups and other civic organizations.
