Mrs. Castle’s Funeral Held At Norfolk


(December 12, 1873-April 1, 1940)


Norfolk--Mrs. James Castle, 66, of East Norfolk died at the Potsdam Hospital Monday night, April 1. She had been in ill health for a long time.

Mary Carbino Castle was born at Massena, Dec. 12, 1873, a daughter of William and Julia Blair Carbino. (Should be Julia Macue Carbino, per JTL). She married James Castle of Norfolk. Most of her life was spent in this vicinity.

Besides her husband, who survives, is one son, Francis, at home and five daughters: Mrs. William Tyo, Mrs. Leon Butler, Mrs. Hermon Shantie and Mrs. Clyde Talcott of Norfolk, Mrs. Lawrence Herse of Watertown. There are 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Last rites were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Visitation, the Rev. Father Farrell, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the cemetery in Potsdam.
